A Little Bit About Us...

Now, to avoid confusion, the ‘us’ I am referring to is me and the blog (who I’ve fondly named Joe [Bloggs]). I say ‘us’ because then I sound less like I’m embarking on some lonely adventure, sitting and writing all by myself (although this is of course completely accurate).

Seeing as you know my blog’s name and you’ve probably guessed it’s all about television, I feel it’s only right I tell you a little about me.

My name is Vicki. I am a Communication and Media graduate from Bournemouth University, currently lucky enough to be working at ITV in the Media Planning department. I love everything about TV and my aim is to build a successful career in the industry.

Having infiltrated the wonderful world of ITV within a year of graduating, I'm hoping 'plan 'successful career'' is already under way, but my internship finishes in August, so I'll be applying left right and centre for new opportunities along with the rest of you.

Me and Joe will attempt to provide you folks out there on t’internet with interesting, useful and insightful information about working in TV, as well as current news surrounding the world of TV and job opportunities in the TV industry.

You’ll find the following wonderful treats on Give It Some Telly:

  • Entry Level TV job postings
  • Advice on applying for jobs in TV/the media
  • Links to many other blogs, reviews and useful job-searching tools
  • Opinion pieces on various shows
  • Current TV news and gossip
  • Other random (but no doubt truly exciting) little ditties…

…So telly lovers unite and enjoy what Joe and I have to offer x

  1. Hi Vicki(and Joe) great blog btw! I stumbled across it via Twitter, I also follow the unit list and saw she advertised it for you!
I was just wondering how you got your internship at the ITV in the first place?
I currently applied for ITV creative production trainee scheme but was unsucussful =/

Great blog though! I think I've tried about 20 out of your 25 points to get a job, will do the other 5 right away!

  2. Thanks for your comment Hannah!
Glad you like the blog. I got my internship here by getting into the ITV work experience pool. Normally they only offer 2-4 week unpaid work experience for people still in education, but occasionally there's a couple of short-term paid opportunities and this was one of them. I was meant to be here from October until January but lucky for me, they're now keeping me on till August.
Wishing you lots of luck in your job hunt!
    Vicki
